In this VFR - GPS Flight Plan we take off from
the airport of Annaba - Rabah Bitat (DABB) [Algeria] and land in the airport of
Tunis - Carthage (DTTA) [Tunisia], following the Mediterranean coast and overflying the cities of
Tabarka and Bizerte and also what it was the ancient city of Carthage.
Find below a short extract and screenshots of the main points of the route. In
this journey around Africa I have used the Cessna 172S (Skyhawk)

Annaba (Arabic: عنّابة, lit "Place of the Jujubes"; Berber languages:
Aânavaen), formerly known as Bona and Bône, is a seaport city in the
northeastern corner of Algeria, close to Tunisia. Annaba is close to the small
Seybouse River, and it is in the Annaba Province. With a population of about
464,740 (2019) and 1,000,000 for the metropole,[1] Annaba is the 3rd largest
city in Algeria. It is the leading industrial center in Algeria.
Annaba is a coastal city that underwent significant growth during the 20th
Century. Annaba has a metropolitan area with a higher population density than
the other metropolitan areas of the Algerian coastline, such as Oran and
Algiers. Much of eastern and southern Algeria uses the services, equipment, and
infrastructure of Annaba. Economically, it is the centre for various economic
activities, such as industry, transportation, finance, and tourism.

Tabarka (Arabic: طبرقة About this soundṬbarqa) is a coastal town located in
north-western Tunisia, close to the border with Algeria. Tabarka's history is a
mosaic of Berber, Punic, Hellenistic, Roman, Arabic, Genoese and Turkish
culture. The town is dominated by an offshore rock on which is remains a Genoese
castle. Nationalist leader Habib Bourguiba, later president of post-independence
Tunisia, was exiled here by the French colonial authorities in 1952. Tourist
attractions include its coral fishing, the Coralis Festival of underwater
photography, and its annual jazz festival
Sejnane dam.
"Sejnane" dam was constructed within scope of general plan for north region
water utilization. The purpose of this storage was to provide additional
quantities of drinking water for north and middle parts of Tunis, and for
irrigation needs as well.

Bizerte or Bizerta (Arabic: بنزرت ), the classical Hippo, is a
town of Bizerte Governorate in Tunisia. It is the northernmost city in Africa,
located 65 km (40mil) north of the capital Tunis. It is one of the oldest known
settlements in Tunisia, having been founded by settlers from the Phoenician port
of Sidon around 1100 BC. It is also known as the last town to remain under
French control after the rest of the country won its independence from France.
The city had 142,966 inhabitants in 2014.

The Gulf of Tunis (Tunisian Arabic: خليج تونس) is a large Mediterranean bay
in north-eastern Tunisia, extending for 39 miles (63 km) from Cape Farina in the
west to Cape Bon in the east.[1] Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia, lies at the
south-western edge of the Gulf, as have a series of settled places over the last
three millennia. Djebel Ressas rises to 795 metres (2,608 ft) around 15
kilometres (9.3 mi) south of the southern edge of the Gulf.
The central part of the gulf, corresponding to the city of Tunis, is
favorable to the implementation of a commercial port due to its location of
being a well protected area. The famous city of Carthage was built on the gulf
shores.

Tunis (Arabic: تونس About this soundTūnis) is the capital and largest city
of Tunisia. The greater metropolitan area of Tunis, often referred to as "Grand
Tunis", has about 2,700,000 inhabitants. As of 2020, it is the fourth-largest
city in the Maghreb region (after Casablanca and Algiers and Tripoli) and the
sixteenth-largest in the Arab world.
Situated on a large Mediterranean Sea gulf (the Gulf of Tunis), behind the
Lake of Tunis and the port of La Goulette (Ḥalq il-Wād), the city extends along
the coastal plain and the hills that surround it. At its core lies its ancient
medina, a World Heritage Site. East of the medina through the Sea Gate (also
known as the Bab el Bhar and the Porte de France) begins the modern city, or
Ville Nouvelle, traversed by the grand Avenue Habib Bourguiba (often referred to
by media and travel guides as "the Tunisian Champs-Élysées"), where the
colonial-era buildings provide a clear contrast to smaller, older structures.
Further east by the sea lie the suburbs of Carthage, La Marsa, and Sidi Bou
Said. As the capital of the country, Tunis is the focus of Tunisian political
and administrative life and also the centre of the country's commercial and
cultural activities.
