Information

Update May 7, 2025: TX9A is officially QRT! We decided to dismantle all antennas and prepare all baggage for the first leg to Papeete.

We would like to thank everyone who helped us make our wishes come true and activate Austral Islands.

Thanks to everyone who made QSOs with us; special thanks to ACOM for the borrowed power amplifiers that worked flawlessly for 12 days continuously 24/7.

We also thank all sponsors (GDXF, EUDXF, MDXC, as well as all individual donors). High power BPF from 4O3A Solutions helped us to have nointerference.

Finally, we would like to thank our families who are understanding of this beautiful hobby.

Last, but not least – where do we go next?

On behalf of the Team

Rolando 9A3MR and Zrinko (Zik) DK8ZZ

Update May 4, 2025:  May the 4th be with you..  The last two days we had a nice opening to Europe. 160m vertical (almost 500 Qs in the log) is switched to 80m and will be used in the next two days.

We are monitoring 50 MHz but when there is no condx, we are switching to HF. There will be a small excursion tomorrow (Monday). On Tuesday afternoon we are starting to dismantle all antennas, our flight to Papeete is on Wednesday morning

Update May 2, 2025:  Ia Ora Na (hello) and good morning from Tubuai Island.

Our team still has 5 days to go. Yesterday we had a nice opening on 50 MHz where we certainly pleased some HAMs from the USA with a new bandslot.

All WE SOs with 80 and 60m are still inserted manually. Please try to avoid doing double links and give others a chance to do it for us. The plan is to be QRV at 160m over the weekend. More to come.

Update May 1, 2025:  TX9A team wishes everyone a Happy Labor Day, May 1st.

The team is still in good spirits. We have no technical problems so far; on 80m we have almost 200 stations from Europe. 160m will be tested this weekend. We have also been working stations all over the USA on 50 MHz, we will try to catch the opening towards Japan.   Although the current CONDX is not great for the EU on 12m and 10m, we will try to do our best there too.

Note: logs from 80 and 60m FT8 do not go into the livestream but are inserted manually, so please be patient.

Update April 30, 2025:  Our team is still ready for new challenges. On 50 MHz there was good activity towards Central America and Brazil, we also worked stations from the USA.

We worked over 80 EU stations on 80m, and the plan to be active in the morning at 80m before our sunrise. Rain is expected for the next few days, and it is possible that we will sometimes have too much QRN. Our log is up to date on ClubLog, with almost 9000 duplicate QSOs so the log will be sorted after the trip is over. Also, OQRS will be activated after sorting the Log.

Update April 29, 2025: The team is in a good mood and everything is going according to plan.

The 50 MHz antenna was raised and the first connections were made with Central America (KP4, HI, ZF, XE, YS). We hope that we will be able to catch the opening on 50 MHz for Japan and the USA. Most likely, we will try 160m next night, check DX Cluster.

Although the internet at the location is solid, we had problems with the live stream, and it may happen that some QSOs are duplicated in the log. For statistics, the TX9A team has made about 25,000 QSOs so far.

We would like to thank all the donations that have arrived in the meantime, due to work we did not have time to thank everyone by name.

Update April 28, 2025:  TX9A Team is in good shape and we are closing to 20k QSOs. We noticed that some QSOs aren’t uploaded automatically (mostly 80 and 60m) but, all QSOs
will be manually uploaded once a day. We erected 80/160m Vertical and did some 80m QSOs.

Finally, our team wishes a speedy recovery to the Adi S55M/W1AFI that had an accident in Bulgaria. We are with you, Adi!

Update April 26, 2025:  Some news from the TX9A team:
1. All the equipment arrived with us safely. Layover in Papeete was good for us.
2. We have been QRV since yesterday at 14h local time, till now (12h local time) over 4.500 Qs.
3. Not all antennas are erected due to heavy rain and wind. Our Hexbeam, 3 el. beam (DK7ZB), 40m GP are already finished. Today we will finish 60/30m GP, 2 el. Moxon beam for upper bands, and probably 50 MHz 4 el. beam.160m/80m GP will be erected probably tomorrow. We will do our best to cover all bands and modes, even 160/80m which are not optimal bands in this time of the year.

Update April 26, 2025: TX9A started activity just after 2350z on April 25th. They have been busiy on 10, 15 and 40m CW so far.

Update April 20, 2025: Final preparations are underway. The team will arrive in Germany in two days time, where the equipment will be repacked, and on Wednesday the journey to Paris will continue (flight BF710 ORY-PPT). We would like to thank DK7PE and DK2CL for their help with the hardware, as well as S59ZZ for donation. We are looking forward to the new challenges ahead and hope that Murphy will not visit us among our stay in Tubuai. Last, but not least, we want to thank our families and friends who support us on this long journey and activation.

Update March 4, 2025: There are 50 days left until departure for Tubuai. ACOM delivered Power Amplifiers to us. A merchandise package (flag, caps, polo shirts) arrived with the equipment. The TX9A team thanks ACOM for their cooperation and support.

Update December 9, 2024:  Our team is growing up. Vlatko, 9A9R, has joined us. Welcome to the TX9A Team!

We are sure that Vlatko will bring a quality and cheerful spirit to our team.

All poles and Hexbeam antenna are packed and ready to be shipped to Croatia. Rolando, 9A3MR, will order bags that meet all airline baggage criteria with their dimensions
