Information

Update November 11, 2024: They went QRT at 0425z today with 75,000 QSO in the log.

Update November 7, 2024: They are off air due to major electiricty blackout. It’s not know when the problem will be resolved.

Update November 2, 2024: About 20,000 QSO in the log.

Update November 1, 2024: They are already QRV but have a lot of band noise at the QTH – will try to search the motive and resolve the problem with RX antenna in their morning.

Update October 15, 2024: The start of operations is approaching. In order to make everyone happy we would like to remember some useful contacts:

  • XT2MD’s Official spokesman/social media content M0OXO
  • North America Pilot N1DG
  • South America Pilot HK3W
  • For log problems (busted calls, nil etc), the only person who has the complete log and is able to check and correct is IK2VUC – PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE WRITING TO GIULIANO: May be you are not in log because you didn’t got the QSO (and you have to try again) or, if you aren’t in log with a bunch of other operators who made the QSO after you, may be we are disconnected and you should wait till midnight (log back-up) to see your call.
  • For any sked or information about E.M.E. write to DL8JJ.
  • For any sked or information about QO-100 write to GI4DOH
  • Sked or other info/requests on low bands write to IZ8FFA

Feel free to contact those guys if you have questions, informations or requests: they will collect your messages and forward to us almost on real time, it will be much quicker and easier than directly contact the expedition crew.

Just to be clear: XT2MD won’t be on-air before Thursday 31 late afternoon-evening (Time zone: 0).

See you on our (real) pile-up

Update September 14, 2024: More information from Emil about the 2m EME operation:
I am very happy to announce that I will be part of the next big DXPedition to Burkina Faso, XT2MD, 31.10.2024 - 11.11.2024.
Again I will take my EME Setup and next to my shortwave CW shift’s I will activate on EME 2M.

My EME-Setup will be:
   6m portable mast.
30el. Single long boom yagi, 15dBd gain

Sequencer, DCW15B, DXP soundcard, 3 x preamplifiers, 25m coax Hyperflex 10, power notebook, MSHV etc.

I would be very happy if you could support me to reduce the costs for this EME expedition.
Please donate:PayPal to emilbergmann@yahoo.com
Best regards, Emil, de DL8JJ

Update August 27, 2024: After offering DL8JJ’s EME operations as “embedded activity” in Djibouti, Cameroun and, now, Burkina Faso, MDXC is proud to announce that during forthcoming XT2MD, in addition to traditional 160 through 6m, all-mode operations and 2m EME digi, we will offer the chance to also contact us via QO-100 satellite, all-mode.

This new experience will be managed by GI4DOH Richard that, like DL8JJ for EME, will spend part of his time left free from the “regular” HF operations shifts, giving chance to the enthusiasts of QO-100 to contact Burkina Faso.

Richard will be more than happy to arrange scheduled operations: please directly contact him via his QRZ.COM email. With this new prestigious additional activity, MDXC will improve furthermore the quality of its DX Expeditions, giving to the Amateur Radio Community worldwide the opportunity to grow new skills and to have more fun.

Unfortunately, there is a “dark side” of this: the air freight of necessary set-up will increase our costs, already out of planned budget. So, to support XT2MD with your donations is even more necessary than before and also a small amount will help us to face this difficult journey. Please visit www.mdxc.support/xt2md/ and support us to continuing give you on-air fun!

Update July 23, 2024: Emil. DL8JJ, will join the Mediterrano DX Club's DX-expedition to Burkina Faso and work 2m EME outside his HF operating shifts.

Update July 5, 2024: Our adventure is approaching. The team is ready and is starting to test the setup. The only goal as always –  maximum fun. You can follow the news on our Website. On the same site you can fill out the questionnaire to indicate which mode(s) and band(s) you are most interested in; it will be useful to focus our efforts to try to make everyone happy!

Update May 28, 2024: Website available.

Members of the Mediterraneo DX Club will be QRV on HF Bands and EME as XT2MD from Burkina Faso from October 31 to November 11. 2024.
More information later.
